Head of Calibration Laboratory

The Bowers Metrology Group is a £15 million turnover company employing a total of 120 people at four different manufacturing sites. The Group comprises of many prestigious brands within the precision measurement industry, including Bowers, Moore & Wright, Baty International, Eseway and CV Instruments.

Bowers Metrology Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of Spear & Jackson PLC.

The Bordon site is the UK distribution and Service Centre for all Bowers and Moore and Wright products along with equipment from some of the world’s most prestigious Metrology companies that we represent such as Trimos, Sylvac, Gagemaker, Wyler and Innovatest.  It also comprises of a small manufacturing unit which specialises in the manufacture of Precision Air Gauging Equipment and Gauge Fixturing.

A position has arisen for a Head of our Calibration Laboratory which, in addition to overseeing our ISO9001 registration, is required to achieve and run the UKAS Accreditation for both the Internal Calibration Laboratory and for External Calibration of our Hardness Testers, Horizontal Calibration Machines and Height Gauges.

This is primarily to enable us to issue UKAS Calibration Certificates on the majority of new products that we offer, as we have no intention of running the laboratory as a Sub Contract Calibration Service.

The Calibration Laboratory Manager will report directly to the UK Managing Director but will also have regular contact with the Service Manager and Sales Office Manager.

He/she will be responsible for administering the existing ISO9001approval and the setting up of the Laboratory in preparation for UKAS Accreditation.

Once the accreditation is achieved he/ she will be responsible for the running of the laboratory and overseeing any external calibrations along with the recruitment and management of additional staff as required.
