ELE Advanced Technologies: TEST THE HARDNESS OF A CROSS-SECTION OF COMPONENTS

600BDBased in an ultra-modern manufacturing plant in Colne, Lancashire, at the heart of the advanced manufacturing area often referred to as the ‘Aerospace Valley’, ELE Advanced Technologies has gained a reputation second to none for the high quality of its manufactured components. Specialising in the non-conventional machining of turbine blades and difficult to produce components used within jet engines and land based power generation plants, the company’s new facility offers both conventional and non-conventional machining processes. The impressive scope of the work undertaken by ELE Advanced Technologies provides simplified supply chain logistics for their demanding customers who operate within the most quality conscious, safety critical of industries. Regular investments in the latest quality control technologies ensures that ELE Advanced Technology continues to supply the highest standard of components to its customers, a case in point was the recent purchase made to ensure the continued high-quality of the material of the company’s components.

Faced with the need to find a new Rockwell bench hardness tester, Quality Assurance Manager Dave Dudley visited MACH 08. Having compared the merits of the hardness testers of several exhibiting companies, impressed by the demonstration of the new CV-600BD from Bowers Metrology, Dave booked an ‘in—house’ demonstration to verify the machine’s outstanding performance on his company’s components. Delighted by the CV-600BD’s ability to test a wide cross-section of the company’s components, the tester was purchased and is now in regular use. Dave Dudley enthused “As our new Rockwell Hardness Tester features a large working space it can accommodate all of our components, it can also be operator configured to accommodate all of our Rockwell testing situations. As the CV-600BD is so easy to use, accurate and repeatable, our operators have absolute confidence in the readings it provides.”

Claimed by Bowers to be the most comprehensive Rockwell bench hardness tester within its price bracket, the advanced, new CV-600BD reads to 0.5 of a Rockwell unit and boasts many advanced features. A menu operated LCD screen gives access to12 regular Rockwell scales, GO/NOGO judgement and load cycle indication. The flexible tester provides user configured dwell time options of 0 – 30 seconds in 5-second steps, whilst a comprehensive range of test anvils, indenters and test blocks is included within the standard delivery package.
