ACCURATE HARDNESS TESTING:
University of Derby: When given the job of finding a modern replacement for an obsolete Vickers Bench Hardness Tester, Senior Technical Advisor, Dan Garner of the busy University of Derby, Faculty of Arts, Design and Technology, carried out an exhaustive product search. His extremely demanding brief meant that the chosen machine needed to meet the rigorous technical standards expected by this highly respected department. Whilst at the same time, due to the diverse nature of the tests the machine would be required to perform, by both staff and students, be quick to set-up and easy to use. Mindful of the Department’s budget restrictions, the new Harness Testers also needed to be priced extremely keenly.
Having considered several alternatives from leading, material-testing equipment specialist companies, Dan Garner found the ideal solution to his challenging requirements in the technically advanced CV 450 DAT, recently purchase from Bowers Metrology. Dan enthused. “Since The University of Derby, School of Technology has a thriving Motorsport Programme, in addition to more mundane tasks, the tester will often be used on safety critical components, therefore it is crucial that each operator has extreme confidence in the accuracy and repeatability of the hardness results achieved. Given the cost effective nature of the new Bowers CV tester, we are very impressed by its advanced capability. As the CV 450 DAT is used by both staff and students, our new purchase is proving ideal, with its speed of set-up, clear digital readout and easy to follow menu”.
