Bowers Ultrasonic Boom For Measurement

TT-500 Ultrasonic Wall Thickness GaugeDesigned to operate through paint and other protective coatings, Bowers Metrology UK has launched the advanced TT-500 Ultrasonic Wall Thickness Gauge. Negating the need to access measured components from both sides, the robust new, handheld gauge is able to precisely measure and display both the wall thickness, and the extent of corrosion, on all metals from the outside. Bowers claims that the new digital TT-500 gauge is applicable to a wide range of industries and that the new compact unit is ideal for the non-destructive testing of an extremely wide range of structures and components prone to internal corrosion.

By means of the TT-500’s easy to use controls and large backlit LCD display, the operator is able to access many of the advanced unit’s useful features, including an A-Scan graphic display for waveform verification, echo-echo mode to determine the distance, excluding the coating, between two echoes and a Min and Max mode.

Boasting a generous wall thickness operating range of 0.75mm - 508mm, the new TT-500 gauge has two alarm modes, a standard high-low alarm mode and a previous thickness alarm mode. The unit’s two differential modes display the thickness difference between the actual measurement and the reference value, also the percentage difference between actual measurement and the reference value.

Aiding data collection and record keeping, Bowers’ new ultrasonic gauge boasts a large memory that is able to store up to 100 A-scan graphs and 10000 thickness values, whilst the TT-500 is able to download all results, via its RS232 output, to data collectors, computers and printers.
